I had a family member ask me if Nail Art is just a trend and is it going to last? Well as far as I know, nail art has been around since the beginning of time. Nail Art dates as far back as 5000 BC to egyptian mummies. Nail Art has always been a sign of culture, status, influence, and self expression.

The first nail polish was created in China. Women used a mixture of egg whites, gelatin, and dyes derived from flowers. In Egypt and India , henna was and still is used to adorn nails.

Red polish has often been said to be a sign of wealth.

In todays age, nail art is more self expressive. We still use jewels, paint, piercings, and pigments on our nails. There’s also a product called Acrylic. Acrylic was introduced in the 1950’s , suprisingly by a dentist, Dr. Fred Slack Jr. Acrylic is a very popular nail extension service. today. We also have gel polish that is cured under a UV LAMP, press ons for temporary nail art , hard gel, soft gel and soft tip extensions.

So, in my opinion, Nails and Nail Art have evolved and will continue to evolve. I don’t think nail art is going away, EVER!
